Monumental
Well, I mean, it kind of is!
Doug and I drove to Kingsville today at 4pm to meet Jimmy, our potential landlord.
Lidia asked her husband, Jerry, for us if he knew of anyone/anywhere we could rent in Kingsville.
It turns out he did...
(Nice!)
Monday
I saw a picture of the house on Google Maps and thought it was quaint.
Looked old, but who cares. I'm a cheeseball; as long as Doug is there and the place is liveable, we're all good.
I texted the guy and asked him a few questions then we talked on the phone.
He said he knew the house was in rough shape because the people he rented it to last kinda wrecked it. He said that he would be willing to charge us $200 a month for rent if we wanted to do some repairs to the house on our own. Sounded good to me! I told him Thursday was my day off and if we could drive in to go see it. He agreed
Fast forward to...
Thursday
Doug and I lazied around a bit. I packed some.
I took a live video of the outside of the house and also a short video of the inside of the house.
Yes, the house is rough-ish.
No, I'm not deterred. Neither is Doug.
Doug tells Jimmy that we're in!!
Jimmy tells us that we should change the locks so we'll have our own keys. <3
We go to Lowe's and it is a nice Lowe's! We ask a guy for help and I ask him if dogs are allowed in the store. He says, "Oh yea, customers are always bringing their dogs in. Sometimes they're walking 'em and others just let them sit in the carts. As long as you take care of what they may leave behind, you know."
And I was like, "Yes, of course!"
(On that note, I can't wait to make shopping trips to Lowe's with Jake! It'll be cute. )
Doug and I buy door knobs, locks and screwdrivers. We pick up some poison spray from Jimmy's house and head back to the house
I spray while Doug is changing the locks. I finish then I try to go help Doug. The sun is pretty much gone by the time I'm helping him but it's still HOT and we're both dripping sweat while we have the phone flashlight shining. It was a simple but very tedious task but Doug and I did it together! Annoying it was, but we both felt so accomplished at the end! It was beautiful!
So yes, monumental.
Doug and I have a place now.
That is cool.
