Right nowwww
It's hard for me to put into words how much gratitude I feel currently. Part of me feels numb to it, like it's not big deal or anything. I know that it is a big deal.
I'm sitting at my desk, in a little room that I painted with my sisters and it is mine and Doug's office/study room and I'm all alone and it feels great and strange and wonderful. It's also hard for me to pinpoint my emotions.
The thing is ...just how it all came together.
Like...I feel like God is really showing me that He wants us here, in so many different little ways...
And it's hard to pinpoint those too because of my horrible memory.
I mean, I'm gonna attempt to make a list for future reference and for me to be able to look back on if I ever feel crappy here in Kingsville or something. (Cause I am a hormonal girl and I get in moods and such.)
1. The first day we came into Kingsville, I sat in the Blue Ribbon Deli and Coffee Bar and drank a delicious, perfectly blended mocha iced coffee and I remember thinking to myself, "I can definitely live here; they make great coffee. Not too sweet, not too strong. Perf." And I literally remember feeling a wave of peace and joy. Later that same day is when we found out Doug was "unoffically hired" already. We also got Arby's that same day!
2. Although finding a place was quick, in the moment, it didn't seem so quick because I was trying to reach out to different apartment complexes and trying to communicate with landlords of different houses and trying to get Vanessa Rocha's bf to help us because he is in Real Estate and nothing was coming up! I literally gave it a break and my friend, Lidia, offered to help me look and it ended up that her husband, Jerry, knew Jimmy, the owner of the current house we are renting. Initial rent fee was $550 but due to the fixtures that needed to be done and the current condition of the house, Jimmy left it at $200 rent. The house is completely live able and I feel comfortable. The fixtures are the fun part, for me, and I know I will learn a lot thru the things I end up doing in this house. That's a blessing within a blessing. And there's no deposit and I can have my pets here! Sweet!
3. The amount of support we've received is so overwhelming and even now that I typed that, I felt a surge of love fill up inside of me. (So lame, I know.) So many people gifted us home items early on. Doug's grandpa gave us a toaster oven, a blender, cutlery, dishes and glasses. His grandma Sherri gave us mooore cutlery and helped us financially. His mom gave us one of those Nu Wave oven things, mom and dad helped us this past weekend with moving all our large items, the bed, desk, couches, etc and they helped us clean, clean, clean and clear out all the uglyness inside the house. At work, on my last day, my coworkers thru a little party for me and there was SO much food, pastries, pizza, candy and more gifts! Alice got me balloons, bowls, dishes and cups, Janie and Joe got me Lowe's and American Express giftcards, Steven got me these cute ceramic mushrooms to hold candles. Suzette got me a rice cooker. Carol got me cutting boards and cutlery. (Man, we have lots of cutlery now! ;D) Cindy made me these beautiful handmade cards and wrote some really sweet stuff and got everyone else to sign and they all wrote some really sweet stuff. It was all sooo beautiful, I was truly taken aback.
4. One of the nearby streets is called Henrietta St. That's a special name to me.
5. Our next door neighbor is a pastor who is Paulino Bernal's brother, which I find to be exceptional. (that he is a Christian...and a pastor!) and I just met him a little bit ago. He seems nice and invited us to his church which he mentions is "non-denominational" and tells me "so we have music.." and just typing that too also makes my eyes watery because the Lord knows I love music so much! Like, if that's not providing some comfort to my heart, I dunno what would be. I had mentioned to Doug that I don't know if we would be able to find a church quick enough because I didn't see where the non- Lutheran, non-Baptist, non-Catholic churches were at...
6. Both of the neighbors to the left and to the right both have German Shepards. Even the neighbor in the front has a shepard mix. For some reason that makes me feel better because I feel like Jake wont stand out and he's not in danger of ever getting stolen because he's 1 out of 4 around here. Big deal!??
7. Water, Electricity, Internet and Gas are all hooked up within the first week we are "living" here...in that order. And it's so great because these are amenities I know we all take for granted but I finally got to take a shower today and it was amazing.
I'm just so grateful. Like, I'll try to keep adding to the list because I know there's much more but I can't think of anything right now..
